Geography of migration: Instructions for map, booklet, p. 4: Examine the maps
below and the maps in the textbook (pp. 74-75; pp.) 84-85. Assess
where the main global migrations take place.
On your map, indicate/identify the following:
- identify two main global migration flows with a yellow arrow;
- identify two regional migrations with a purple arrow.
- include these arrows in your legend.
Using the chart below:
- label and shade in red the top ten countries of origins (for all migrants);
- label and shade in green the top ten destination countries (for all migrants);
- include this information in your legend.
Ensure that your map is extremely neat and legible. Use black pen; do NOT use pencil.
Test:
You will have a test next week consisting of short answers and a map (physical features, bodies of water, populated regions). You have a
reading (Handout: Crowding our Planet), class notes, and a map to study. The review questions from the previous blog are a guide as to content.
1. Short-answer questions:
-population statistics (numbers: world, projected, certain countries)
-comparison of population in developed, developing and LDCs
-reasons for population growth in various regions
-distribution of population & the link between physical features and population distribution.
2. Map:
For example, locate:
regions: South-east Asia, etc.
bodies of water: Gulf of Guinea, Indian ocean
physical features: deserts, mountain chains, forested areas...
